  17. We're in the 3D Animation business.  While your accurate in that the
  18. magazine can best show the individual frame....If VTU will compile and
  19. sell (at a reasonable price) the tape, and/or include as part of  our
  20. entrance fee....we can all see full motion video....
  21. Then again, why not do both ?

  23. The problem is that while you are in the animation business, many aren't -
  24. but they are still talented animators. For a contest, a single frame is a
  25. nice EVEN playing field - this image versus that image. In fact one idea
  26. was to give everyone a theme or even a specific situation, so you're
  27. comparing apples to apples - David Hopkins "Do a Waterfall' contest was an
  28. example, although I would go broader 'Do a frame about freedom' or
  29. something...just another idea.

  31. They could do both - it's an issue of bandwidth I guess...but it's not MY
  32. bandwidth, so que sera sera. I just like the idea of a nice, clean and
  33. SIMPLE contest - esp. for a first swing at it. It could end up being a
  34. REAL nightmare otherwise...since I used to run a magazine (and I had it a
  35. MILLION times easier then my old friend Jim Plant does!) I think about
  36. do-ability. I like easy. The contest idea has been around for a long time
  37. - since I was publishing Bread Box, in fact...but the do-ability has
  38. always kept it from happening.

  40. As for a tape - I think a tape is a great idea. In fact Mark Randall, the
  41. former director of marketing at NewTek who is now with Play, had an idea a
  42. while ago to do a 'Mind's Eye' style tape, all with LightWave stuff and
  43. just sell it to the general public as a 'Mind Eyes', while it serves the
  44. sneaky purpose of REALLY being the ulitimate LightWave demo reel! I
  45. thought it was a great idea, and still would like to see it happen...
